Alex Iwobi (simply known as “Iwobi”; English name: Alex Iwobi) was born on May 3, 1996, in Lagos, Nigeria. He is a professional footballer with both Nigerian and British citizenship, playing as a midfielder. He joined Arsenal’s youth academy in 2004; the club nearly let him go at both ages 14 and 16. In October 2015, he signed a long-term contract. On October 27 of the same year, he made his debut for the first team, and four days later, he played his first Premier League match. In August 2018, his contract was extended until 2023. In August 2019, he joined Everton on a five-year deal, with an initial transfer fee of £28 million. During the 2022–23 season, he led the team in assists with 8, earning him the title of Everton’s Player of the Season as voted by his teammates. In September 2023, he moved to Fulham. He made his debut on September 16, scored his first goal in the League Cup on September 27, and netted his first Premier League goal in November. In April 2024, he became the Nigerian player with the most appearances in Premier League history. Previously, he played for England’s youth teams; in 2015, he chose to represent Nigeria, making his debut for the senior national team in October. He was selected for Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup squad. He also participated in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019, 2021, and 2023, finishing third in 2019 and second in 2023.
